Ian is a graduate of Edinburgh University. He practised in Zimbabwe for 20 years before deciding to call Australia home in 2001.
Ian brings a wealth of experience, particularly in the area of oral surgery. When he isn’t looking after patients, we know where to find him – he’ll be on the golf course.
Fiona graduated with Honours from the University of Queensland and practised on the Sunshine Coast before spending two years working in the UK. We were fortunate to have her join our team in 2008.
A testament to her popularity as a dentist are her numerous former patients who attend our practice just to see her. When not at work Fiona exercises her exceptional manual dexterity by knitting, sewing and cooking – however she is far from being a “nanna“!
Erin graduated with honours from the University of Qld and after being a city girl born and bred she has made the sea change to join our team.
Erin is dedicated to providing gentle dental care and finding solutions to any dental problem you may have. When she is not seeing patients you will find her on the beach or baking sweets for her friends.

The team at Suncoast Dental welcome all patients to safely visit our practice throughout the pandemic. Vaccination is not mandatory for our dental patients.
In accordance with the workers in a healthcare setting (COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements) direction issued by the Qld Government, our team are fully vaccinated to provide you with complete peace of mind during your visit.
If for any reason you are unvaccinated – including for a medical contraindication, your right to autonomy and personal choice will be respected by our team. Your wellbeing is our utmost priority.
Should you be unvaccinated, or partially vaccinated (including having had the second dose within less than two weeks) before attending the dental practice during a time of no community transmission, we do not foresee any significant additional risk to your health.
During times of active community transmission, despite our diligence in patient screening procedures, we cannot completely exclude the possibility that COVID positive patients will attend the practice. This poses a risk to both vaccinated and unvaccinated patients.
It is not currently a requirement to have the PCR COVID Test prior to any dental procedure.
If you are unvaccinated, or even partially vaccinated (including having had the second dose less than two weeks prior) before attending the dental practice during a time of active community transmission – we may ask you to defer your treatment if possible. If this is not feasible, we will work with you to reach a suitable solution.
All patients over the age of 70, including those who are fully vaccinated and those with complex medical history may be asked to reconsider their procedure during a time of active community transmission to mitigate the risk of accidental exposure.
We will explicitly and candidly discuss COVID-19 risk factors relevant to our practice with all patients prior to attendance. We thank you for considering this policy statement during your dental visit.
The team at Suncoast Dental are grateful for your support.
Choosing a dental care provider is a significant decision that goes beyond just technical expertise. At Suncoast Dental, our approach intertwines medical proficiency with a genuine concern for patient comfort and well-being. We prioritise ongoing education for our team, ensuring that we’re always abreast of the latest in dental science. Additionally, we value transparency and patient involvement, ensuring you’re always informed and comfortable with your treatment choices.
The foundation of effective dental care lies in thorough and unhurried consultations and treatments. By booking an appointment, we can allocate dedicated time to address your specific dental needs without rush. This said, we do recognise that emergencies can be unpredictable. In such cases, we do our best to accommodate walk-ins or provide guidance.
Regular dental check-ups act as the frontline defence against potential dental issues. While the standard recommendation is a visit every six months, individual needs can vary. Factors such as age, dental history and specific conditions can influence the frequency of required visits. Biannual visits help in timely detection and management of concerns, ensuring dental issues are addressed before they become complex.
Oral health is intricately connected to overall health. Routine check-ups allow for early detection of potential problems like cavities, gum disease or even oral cancer. Timely intervention can prevent these issues from escalating. Additionally, professional cleaning addresses hard-to-reach areas, removing accumulated plaque and calculus, which are primary culprits for many dental diseases. Cleanings also provide an opportunity for dental professionals to guide on effective home care practices.
Dental health is essential and financial constraints shouldn’t be a barrier to accessing quality care. At Suncoast Dental, we understand this ethos deeply. We offer flexible payment plans to make treatments more manageable for our patients. By breaking down the cost into smaller, more manageable instalments, we ensure you don’t have to compromise on the necessary treatments.
Professional teeth cleaning is a meticulous process that employs specialized tools tailored to diverse dental needs. Scalers, both manual and ultrasonic, are used to gently remove plaque and calculus build-up without harming the teeth or gums. High-speed polishers, with their gentle abrasives, ensure teeth are left with a smooth finish, reducing future plaque adherence. This combination ensures a thorough cleaning, contributing to prolonged dental health.
Teeth whitening, when performed under the guidance of a dental professional, is a safe procedure. At Suncoast Dental, the methods and agents we use have undergone rigorous testing and have been validated for safety and efficacy. We also take care to understand your dental history and current condition, ensuring the procedure is suited for you. Post-procedure, we provide guidance on care, ensuring the longevity of the results.
Children’s dental health is pivotal, as it sets the foundation for adult oral health. At Suncoast Dental, we have a specialized approach for our youngest patients. We recognize that a child’s first experiences with dentistry can shape their attitude towards dental care for life. Hence, we’ve designed our paediatric services to be gentle, engaging and educative, ensuring children view dental visits positively.
